Widening the Lens on Innovation for Clean Manufacturing: Bio-Manufacturing
Event Summary
Bio-Manufacturing: Opportunities to Contribute to Climate Change Mitigation Workshop
ITIF co-hosted a series of four expert workshops with Boston University Institute for Sustainable Energy and Fraunhofer USA’s Center for Manufacturing Innovation. This workshop focused on biological production, using atmospheric CO2 as feedstock, of alternative bio-engineered materials such as polyester, polystyrene, polyurethane, butyl rubber, protein concentrates, etc., specifically considering whether such biological production of alternative materials and permanent sequestration of CO2 can be cost-effective at scale.
